Top Tips for the Garmin Nuvi 1300LM gps

Do not register on the phone, go the Garmin site and if you don’t register within the first 30 days of your first use you will lose your lifetime map updates.

·    Garmin nuvi 1300lm user manual is not in the box – go to the Garmin site and download, it’s about 60 pages.

·    When you first get your gps charge it first thing either on your computer with USB cable (3 hours)or get Rapid Wall / AC Charger for select G...  which takes about 1.5 hours to charge, then register online at Garmin website then update your maps and software, takes up to 5 hours so pick a good time to start like in the evening.

·    You can download different vehicles to represent your car on the map including “holiday images” upload images for custom details and add other voices or even download a program to use your own voice, free of charge.

·    Invest a little time to get to know how it’s organized if you have never used a gps before.

·    For Truckers check out Garmin dezl 560LMT 5-Inch Widescreen...  Or download POIs associated with  trucking such as low bridges, truck stops, etc.. and get a garmin with Lifetime maps and probably  a 5" or 7" in screen size like the Garmin nüvi 1450LMT 5-Inch Portable ...

·       Instead of using the windshield suction cup mount the Garmin Friction Mount  is recommended. It's a LOT easier to set the unit out of sight and it can continue charging while your doing errands. Plus it makes it easier to move between vehicles, no taking apart and putting together again.

·    To enter multiple route points, put in your destination first, then insert the points from next to last point and go backwards to the first point, other wise you will have to enter each point and go out of the menu each time and back in to enter them.

·    Screens over 4.3” for cars are overkill as they weigh more and can fall. The larger screens are better for trucks and Suvs but 4.3in is a good size for a car.
